Chair-Based Balance (Frailer Adults)

A seated and seated-to-standing routine for frailer, deconditioned, or higher-fall-risk adults who need substantial support. All items are performed at or near a sturdy chair; supervision recommended.

    5-8 reps x 2
    Push off armrests as needed; the core strength item.

    Toe Raises (Tibialis Raises)
    10 reps x 2 (seated or standing)
    Hold chair; keep knees soft.
  3. 3
    Heel Raises (Calf Raises)
    10 reps x 2 (seated or standing)
    Two-hand support if standing.
  4. 4
    Lateral Weight Shifts
    8 shifts x 2 (standing at chair)
    Both hands on chair back.
  5. 5
    Staggered Stance Hold
    15s hold x 2 per side
    Hand on chair; small stagger.
