Sprint Interval Training (Wingate-Style)

Research consistently shows…

Sprint interval training with brief all-out efforts (classically ~30 s Wingate-style, or shorter) improves CRF and cardiometabolic markers despite very low total exercise volume. Evidence shows it can rival higher-volume training for aerobic fitness in accustomed individuals, though body-composition effects are modest. Its intensity demands readiness and is unsuitable for many clinical groups.

Common misconceptions
  • 'Anyone can start with all-out sprints' (clearance and a base are advised)
  • 'Sprints alone build endurance' (CRF improves but volume builds endurance)
