Deepen a Close Relationship
A focused template for investing in a single important relationship. You'll pick one person, prioritize depth over breadth, offer the right kinds of support, and set a recurring quality-time ritual with attention to responding to their bids for connection.
The evidence applies to the practice, not to these particular steps — they are one way to carry it out.

Each line below says where it comes from. “Reported by the review’s sources” is the source’s own words about adverse events or contraindications. “Product safeguard” is written by this app, not by the research. “Source silent” means the studies behind this routine report nothing on that point, which is not the same as saying it carries no risk.

How to do it
- Pick one person for the cycle and stay with them. The point is depth, so resist spreading the same hour across three relationships.
- Name which kind of support they actually need right now: emotional (listening, comfort), informational (advice, know-how), or practical (a ride, a meal). Ask if you are not sure rather than defaulting to advice.
- Put the weekly check-in or shared activity on the calendar and protect it. Phones away; presence is what the hour is for, not its length.
- Bids are the small moments they hand you - a comment, a question, showing you something. Turning toward them (look up, respond, ask one follow-up) is the core move, and it happens outside the scheduled hour too.
- If the relationship involves ongoing conflict or you feel at risk in it, this is not the tool for that. A qualified counselor is, and for abuse, an appropriate support service.
Evidence status
No internal review in this library has asked this specific practice’s question yet, so there are no cited studies here. It’s included as a way to work toward the goal — not because a review has confirmed it works as described.
What a review would need to answer: Do deliberate relationship-investment practices improve relationship quality or well-being?
