Equipment

Equipment is a property of the movement and is authored, never derived from the evidence corpus (docs/research/round2/ROUND2_KNOWN_CORRECTIONS.md §1). This option resolves to no catalogue exercise, so nothing has authored it yet.

Level and prerequisites
  • Instruction from a teacher; no prior meditation practice or specific physical capabilities required.

Progression and regression
  • The practice was made easier by adapting a shorter 6-week program to fit busy medical trainees' schedules. Significant improvements were observed in mindfulness, interconnectedness, perceived stress, life enjoyment, and compassion, with sustained effects over time. No significant changes were found in burnout, self-compassion, or emotional intelligence. Future research is needed to explore optimal timing, duration, and structure of compassion-based interventions.

The impact of a mindful compassion program for medical trainees
  • The practice was consistent with a minimum of 10 minutes each day for 10 days, with optional extensions to 15 or 20 minutes. There was no progression or regression in terms of difficulty or length over time.

Who should not do this
  • Individuals with current psychiatric disorders are discouraged from participating in mindfulness-based interventions unless they are specifically designed to address those disorders, as they may lead to deterioration. Individuals with little or no depressive symptoms may show less improvement due to floor effects, but this is not a contraindication. The study's participants were generally healthy, with only a small percentage reporting clinical levels of depression and anxiety.

A paper measuring one option against another does not make the two interchangeable, and it does not say which to choose. These are listed as what the papers did, and nothing here proposes a substitution.
