Structured Neuromuscular Warm-Up (FIFA 11+ Style)

A multi-component warm-up combining strength, balance, and dynamic movement to reduce injury risk.

Research consistently shows…

Unlike isolated stretching, Grade-A evidence supports structured neuromuscular warm-ups such as FIFA 11+, combining running, strength, plyometric, and balance drills, for reducing certain sport injuries and improving performance. The benefit comes from the whole program, not from stretching alone. This is the evidence-based way to pursue injury-risk reduction.

How to do it
15–20 min full program 2–3×/week before training
This is the evidence-based dose. A shorter session still counts, it just gives partial benefit rather than the full effect.
Common misconceptions
  • Flexibility is the key injury-prevention factor, strength and control matter more.
  • Skipping the strength/balance parts still works, the full program is what was studied.
What we won't claim
  • Stretching alone provides this injury-reduction benefit.
  • Any warm-up equals a structured neuromuscular program.
  • This eliminates all injury risk.
When to seek a professional
  • Sharp or radiating pain during stretching, stop and consult a clinician.
  • Sudden loss of range of motion or joint instability, seek a physical therapist.
  • Numbness, tingling, or a recent injury, get medical clearance first.
