Under supervision, interval and aerobic training improve VO2peak and outcomes in selected cardiac and clinical populations, and preoperative and rehabilitation programs use structured intervals to raise fitness. These applications require individualized prescription and monitoring. They are delivered by qualified professionals, not self-directed for higher-risk patients.
