Exercise Snacks (Micro-Bouts)
Very short bursts of vigorous activity (e.g., stair climbing) spread through the day to improve fitness in physically inactive people.

Evidence suggests…
Early trial evidence suggests brief 'exercise snacks', short vigorous bouts such as stair climbing done a few times daily, improve fitness and cardiometabolic markers in previously inactive adults. This is an emerging, promising approach for people who cannot commit to structured sessions, though the body of evidence is smaller than for traditional formats. We describe it with appropriate caution.

Common misconceptions
- 'Exercise must be a dedicated session' (micro-bouts also help)
- 'A minute here and there is useless' (it can measurably improve fitness in inactive people)
What we won't claim
- No cure claims for any disease
- No guaranteed outcomes or fixed numeric results for any individual
- Does not replace prescribed medical treatment
- Emerging evidence; not proven equivalent to structured training
When to seek a professional
- Chest pain, pressure, or unusual shortness of breath during exertion
- Fainting, dizziness, or palpitations with exercise
- Known or suspected cardiovascular, metabolic, or renal disease without medical clearance
