Green and Blue Space and Health
Living near and using parks, greenery, and water (blue space) is linked to better mental and physical health outcomes.
Beta content. Evidence for this dimension is still developing; grade is conservative and will be upgraded as more research is reviewed.

Evidence suggests…
Large systematic reviews and meta-analyses of mostly observational (cross-sectional and cohort) studies show consistent associations between greater green/blue space exposure and lower stress hormones, blood pressure, and mortality. Because most evidence is observational, residual confounding (e.g., wealth, walkability) limits causal claims, hence Grade B.
Regular use of nearby parks, greenery, or waterside settings foundational parks, gardens, waterfronts

Common misconceptions
- Only large forests count, street trees, gardens and small waterways are associated with benefits too
- The link is proven causal, most evidence is associational
What we won't claim
- Living near a park prevents disease
- Blue space heals medical conditions
When to seek a professional
- Environmental hazard at a local site (contamination, unsafe water) → local public-health/environmental authority
