Evidence suggests…

Substituting plant for animal protein is associated with favorable cardiometabolic markers and lower mortality in cohort analyses, and plant proteins support muscle when total intake is adequate. We grade this B because much substitution evidence is observational and per-meal amino-acid differences can matter at the margins.

How to do it

This is the evidence-based dose. A shorter session still counts, it just gives partial benefit rather than the full effect.
Common misconceptions
  • 'Plant protein can't maintain muscle.' With adequate total protein and variety, it can.
  • 'You must combine proteins every meal.' Variety across the day suffices.
  • 'Meat is the only complete protein.' Soy and quinoa are complete; mixed plants cover it too.
