Yoga Balance Series (Prop-Supported)

A schedulable series of balance-focused yoga poses using wall or chair support to build steadiness.

Research consistently shows…

This series uses standing balance poses and controlled transitions, supported by a wall or chair, to train steadiness, flexibility, and body awareness. Reviews indicate yoga can improve balance and reduce fear of falling, especially in older adults. Poses are held briefly and progressed by reducing support as steadiness improves.

2×/week, 45–60 min, ≥8–12 weeks
This is the evidence-based dose. A shorter session still counts, it just gives partial benefit rather than the full effect.
Common misconceptions
  • 'You must be flexible first' (props make it beginner-accessible)
  • 'Yoga is only stretching' (balance poses are neuromotor training)
What we won't claim
  • Does not guarantee prevention of any fall or injury
  • Not a substitute for medical evaluation of dizziness, syncope, or unexplained falls
When to seek a professional
  • Two or more falls in the past 12 months, or any fall with injury
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting during standing or movement
  • New or worsening unsteadiness, neurological symptoms, or numbness in the feet
  • Fear of falling severe enough to restrict daily activity
