Research consistently shows...

Push/Pull/Legs (PPL) groups exercises by pattern: pushing movements one day, pulling the next, legs the third, run 3 or 6 days a week. It is a way to organize higher weekly volume across more sessions while keeping related muscles together for efficient recovery. Since split structure itself is not decisive when weekly volume is matched, PPL is best viewed as an organizational option for people who train frequently and want ample per-muscle volume, rather than as a uniquely superior method.

Common misconceptions
  • Myth: PPL is the 'best' way to build muscle. Actually: Structure doesn't decide results; equal weekly volume in a simpler split grows muscle just as well.
  • Myth: You need six days a week to grow. Actually: PPL can run in three days; frequency mainly helps distribute volume, not create it out of nothing.
