Cardio and Body Composition

Aerobic and interval training modestly reduce total, abdominal, and visceral fat, especially when paired with nutrition.

Research consistently shows…

Meta-analyses show interval and continuous training reduce total and visceral/abdominal fat, with generally small-to-moderate effects that are larger when energy intake is managed. HIIT and MICT produce broadly comparable fat changes per matched effort. Cardio is a useful contributor to body-composition goals but is not a standalone or guaranteed fat-loss solution.

Common misconceptions
  • 'Cardio spot-reduces belly fat' (fat loss is systemic)
  • 'Exercise alone drives fat loss' (nutrition is the larger lever)
What we won't claim
  • No cure claims for any disease
  • No guaranteed outcomes or fixed numeric results for any individual
  • Does not replace prescribed medical treatment
  • No spot-reduction; no guaranteed weight or fat loss
When to seek a professional
  • Chest pain, pressure, or unusual shortness of breath during exertion
  • Fainting, dizziness, or palpitations with exercise
  • Known or suspected cardiovascular, metabolic, or renal disease without medical clearance
  • Disordered-eating concerns or rapid unexplained weight change
